CEO: Automation Can Help Businesses Struggling in Poor Economy

“Never write another batch file or custom script again” – that’s the promise made by Network Automation (News - Alert), a provider of business automation solutions by industry. Officials at the Los Angeles-based company say their AutoMate tools – including the new AutoMate 6 next-generation platform – enable sophisticated automation development without the need for writing and managing code.

Recently, TMCnet caught up with Network Automation Chief Executive Officer Dustin Snell, who says that economy is putting pressure on organizations to pursue solutions with powerful and often immediate returns on investment. AutoMate solutions specifically address these challenges, he says.

Our exchange follows.

TMCnet: What are the expansion plans of Network Automation?
Dustin Snell: We feel that the mid-market is underserved for Enterprise-level process automation. While Network Automation is currently the mid-market leader in BPA solutions worldwide, we are working to further increase our market share in the mid-market.

TMCnet: What are the new tools and solutions in the pipeline?
DS: We are about to release AutoMate 7 in November. This product will add dozens of new actions allowing for the automation of Active Directory operations, XML functions, WMI, and much more.

TMCnet: AutoMate BPA Server 7 enables sophisticated automation development without the need for writing and managing code. How is it different from conventional automation solutions?

DS: It is fundamentally different in every way. First off, it is much faster. Most automation solutions require weeks and even months to implement. Our products can create solutions in a matter of hours or days. Also, highly skilled developers are no longer required to develop and maintain these automation solutions. No knowledge of scripting is required to develop even highly complex processes. There is a management console that offers reports of all activity and plain English displays of all tasks and workflows for a much more clear understanding of what processes are being automated.

TMCnet: AutoMate BPA Server 7 reduces development costs and timelines. How do you guarantee this to enterprises in your SLAs?
DS: We offer a 30-day money back guarantee with all our products. We do this because we are confident that organizations will experience immediate ROI with our products. In addition, we offer professional services and training to further reduce timelines and development costs.

TMCnet: What’s the reduction in development costs?
DS: While this varies from organization to organization, the drag-and-drop usability of our products and high level of customer support has reduced our customers’ development costs by 80 percent in some cases.

TMCnet: What are your recommendations to chief information officers of enterprises to control costs?
DS: Look at the manual aspects of your business/IT processes. Odds are, these are the places in your business process that are most susceptible to human error, delays, and excessive processing time. See which manual processes do not require human intervention. Automating these processes will not only increase the speed and reliability of your processes, but it will also eliminate the biggest pain points at the same time.

TMCnet: Recession is affecting the technology deployment among enterprises. What are your plans to maintain your revenue growth?
DS: Our product offerings are most valuable during difficult economic times. Organizations are desperately seeking ways to reduce unnecessary costs while maximize their effectiveness. Furthermore, the economy is putting more pressure on organizations to only pursue solutions with powerful and often immediate ROI. BPA Server is designed to accomplish these goals specifically. Without requiring lengthy implementation times or excessive development costs you can automate virtually any business or IT process to eliminate human error, streamline operations, while receiving an immediate return on investment. Companies that want to reduce their cost of operations without breaking the bank or waiting months to go live come to us.

TMCnet: How do you rate your competition and their activities?
DS: Our number one competitor is the old way of doing business: writing scripts and batch files. While both HP and CA (News - Alert) each have offerings that touch on IT Process Automation, their focus is solely on the Fortune 1000 putting their solutions out of reach for most organizations. In addition to the excess costs associated with these competitors, coding is still required in many cases. We are the first to market a complete Business Process Automation Platform for the mid-market that allows for centrally managed, client/server-based, multi-machine automation with workflow capability, all without writing code.
