Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software, Oracle Team to Help City of Winnipeg Streamline Billing Operations

Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software and Oracle (News - Alert) have entered into an agreement with the City of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, to create more reader-friendly documents associated with its utility services.

“Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing will operate as the centerpiece of the City of Winnipeg’s billing applications for its utility services,” said Linda Jackman, vice president of product management, in a statement.

Jackman continued: “The combined solutions will provide Winnipeg’s utilities unmatched flexibility and scalability, and enable these services to easily execute real-time addresses validation and automate mailstream sortation, resulting in higher postal discounts under SERP regulations.”

The Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing system is used to manage rating and billing systems for customers and for undertaking associated functions like payment processing, collections, field service and meter management. The City of Winnipeg will use this product to calculate a customer’s bills.

Further Group 1 Software’s (News - Alert) DOC 1 Designer will receive the billing data and produce solutions to create bills, letters, notices and various other utilities documents in a customer-friendly and easy-to-read format. With these solutions, the city can create cost efficiencies, maximize revenue and respond quickly to market changes.

With a facility for address validation in Canada, this system allows the city’s customer service organization to verify an address at the point of original data entry into Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing. Also, the Group 1 Software system ensures the City of Winnipeg will receive the postal discounts offered by Canada Post.

By choosing both Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing and Group 1 Software’s DOC 1 Designer and Generate document composition and design solutions, the City of Winnipeg can produce more comprehensible documents for utility services. The combined solution has simplified and automated the billing and document composition process for the city.
